How to help
Îïóáëèêîâàíî 15.08.2007 WE URGE YOU TO SUPPORT INTERNATIONAL YOUTH HUMAN RIGHTS MOVEMENT!!!
How you can participate
-
As a sign of solidarity, you can join YHRM individually, as a group\organization or open a YHRM branch in your country. (To join – please visit: http://www.yhrm.org/eng/join/, for details on how to open a branch please contact int@yhrm.org):
- Send us a letter of support in your national language and\or in English. This is important for us not only because of your encouragement, but also as evidence for the court to prove that we in fact “exist” and are known to people and organizations in many different countries! You can do this by fax +7-4732-545530 or by e-mail solidarity@hrworld.ru;
- Translate this text into your national language and disseminate it widely in your community, country and regions, among friends, partners, journalists, on web-sites and blogs (you can also use banners in English http://defence.yhrm.org/newsdef_other/bnr/), asking them to join our solidarity campaign! Distribute information about this case and about the situation with fundamental freedoms in Russia and NIS as widely as possible!
- Along with all other actions you can also organize solidarity actions with International YHRM and in support of the independent civil society actors in Russia (near Russian embassies and other representations of the Russian Federation in your country) Please give notice of your activities to the Solidarity working group at solidarity@hrworld.ru, so we will know about them and inform others;
- You can, if you wish, render financial or any other support to YHRM. It is possible to do either through Webmoney E907697182726, Z878302509696, R179608645089 or through a bank account (please contact us for details);
- Join the working group for the Defense of Civil Society in the NIS (dcs_nis_eng@googlegroups.com)!!! YHRM is not the first and unfortunately not the last organization which faces this kind of pressure and only our joint efforts can prevent new problems;
- If you have any other ideas about what can be done, please contact us at the Solidarity working group: solidarity@hrworld.ru.

The most recent example of the threat of closure of the NGO Youth Human Rights Movement (YHRM) is a clear example of the flaws in the law's implementation. The YHRM learned only in August 2007 that two months earlier a district court in the city of Nizhnii Novgorod had ordered that the YHRM be taken off the register for recognized NGOs of the Federal Registration Service (FRS), as they had allegedly failed to provide reports about their activities to the regional department of the FRS.Amnesty.org |
The Budapest-based human rights organization Freedom House Europe today strongly condemned the closing down of the International Youth Human Rights Movement (YHRM) by a Nizhniy Novgorod court at the demand of Russia’s Federal Registration Service (FRS). YHRM, one of the most active human rights organizations in Russia and the NIS, is accused of failing to submit its annual report to the Nizhniy Novgorod branch of the FRS.http://www.freedomhouse.org/template.cfm?page=70&release=541 |
“There is Youth Human Rights Movement in Russia. They have web-site, address and activists, but court in N. Novgorod made decision about closing down the organization because of failing to provide reports about their activities to the regional department of the FRS. Here we talk about legal (but not legislative) aspects of casus. Sometimes legislation contradicts the principles of law, and realizing of it becomes nonsense” – David wrote in post “About phantom organizations”.About phantom organizations |
For us Youth Human Rights Movement is a community of brave, unselfish, responsive, based on principle and consecutive activists, who are not persons alike, stereotype liberal human rights advocacies, who aren’t adore East for “market democracy”.http://www.socialism.ru |
Today I have known about shocking decision from a Soviet district court in the city of Nizhni Novgorod, who “closed” your organization. I’m sure this decision will be canceled as illegal.
I suppose taking monitoring of similar court decision is necessary. Also tomorrow I‘ll make a suggestion to discussion this decision and others similar in near meeting of Council about supporting to developing civil society institutes and human rights. Activity of your organization is well-known and is worthy to be supported.http://www.defence.yhrm.org/docs/blan_sun_sign.doc |
